Topic of your interest
Researching Packaging & Print finishing
The research section deals with topics of industrial bookbinding, print finishing and packaging production. A large number of bookbinding projects have resulted in limit values and tolerance specifications that have established themselves as technical guidelines or standards in the industry.
Focus areas
Print finishing
The research focus primarily covers the techniques of varnishing, film laminating and stamping and represents the link between printing and the final print finishing process itself. Research projects are being conducted to develop devices for testing printed sheets (prior to finishing) and varnish adhesion. In the field of film laminating, influencing variables on film adhesion are investigated and a limit value for bookbinding finishing is being worked out.
Bookbinding finishing
Industrial bookbinding has always been associated with a high production risk, which requires research. The main topics are binding quality, gluing technology, material properties and testing, acceptance criteria for technical and optical deviations, transport and time delayed damage.
