For optimum print results
The ProcessStandard Offset (PSO) and the ISO 12647 series of standards are considered to be indispensable tools for colour reliable print production. The use of printing inks in accordance with ISO 2846 is a prerequisite for achieving the target values specified therein. Fogra also certifies consumables and auxiliaries required for the printing process, e.g. fountain concentrates and washing agents.
Certifications for Offset printing
PSO (ISO 12647)
With the certification according to PSO (ISO 12647), printing companies ensure a smooth printing process internally. Externally, they demonstrate their ability to produce in accordance with the high quality requirements of the internationally recognized standard and to comply with the colour specifications of their customers.
PSOactive
PSOactive is a supplement to the certification according to PSO (ISO 12647) and is offered to certified print shops as an additional option. In order to guarantee consistently standardized print production even between the test dates, prints must be sent in regularly for metrological testing.
PSObasic
In order to expand the international circle of certified print shops, Fogra outside of the German-speaking DACH region offers a cost-effective variant called PSObasic. This is based on the same target values and tolerances as the certification according to PSO (ISO 12647), but follows a reduced scope of testing. PSObasic thus serves as a stepping stone to obtaining the more comprehensive PSO certificate.
The ProcessStandard Offset (PSO) is a further development of the work carried out in the 1970s on "Standardization of the Offset Printing Process". It was developed by Fogra together with the German Printing and Media Industries Federation . It also served as the basis for the development of the international ISO 12647 series of standards and is therefore compliant with it. The PSO describes the standardized procedure for the production of print products. Using suitable testing equipment and control methods, the production processes are monitored, controlled and checked from data preparation to printing plate production and the finished print.
In order to achieve optimum print results, it is necessary to already start with the materials and observe the quality in the printing inks, consumables and auxiliaries. The FograCert label ensures that the products meet the high standards required in daily printing practice. For fountain concentrates and washing agents, certification is necessary in order to get on the release lists of the press manufacturers.
Our certification programme FograCert
Our standardized FograCert testing programme for materials, products and production processes guarantees safety whilst processing the materials, disruption-free production and reliable manufacturing processes. A Fogra certificate confirms a service is fit for purpose. We can also certify staff expertise.
Show your high quality standard with your individual FograCert logo and in our database which lists all persons, companies and products certified by Fogra with the relevant details and test conditions.
International standardisation
Fogra is represented on various standardisation committees, where it actively protects and promotes its members' interests. In the International Standardization Organisation (ISO), for example, two Fogra employees lead Working Groups of the Technical Committee TC 130 Graphic Technology.
