The Farnsworth-Munsell Hue Test can be used to detect different types of colour blindness: total colour blindness, partial colour blindness (dichromatism) and abnormal trichromacy. These conditions are due to dysfunction of the cones in the eye, which are responsible for colour perception. The frequency distribution shows that colour blindness affects about 8% of men, while women are less affected. The spectrum ranges from slight deviations to complete colour blindness.
Fogra offers the Farnsworth Munsell (FM) 100 hue test. Subjects arrange a colour wheel of 85 slightly saturated and very similar colours at equal intervals. The FM100 Hue Test is a simple and very effective method of analysing human colour perception and colour discrimination. This test determines the exact type and degree of colour vision deficiency and whether the subject can distinguish colour gradations. A calculated quality index is used to classify the subjects into three subgroups: very good, medium and poor discrimination. This innovative test, therefore, provides well-founded information about individual colour perception ability.
